4-25-24   THOUGHTS

Our reading this morning is not a comfortable passage section. It is as challenging as all the Old Testament.  For us to get the “WEIGHTIER MATTERS” is key to who we are to be!  Going through processes profits little when it comes to fixing our hearts on God. We must dive deep to understand verse 6.  A shallow understanding might lead one to conclude that the Church is not important.  Just get your personal relationship with God right. The Church is the blood bought design of God, given as the place for  His saints to grow and thrive and learn love and bear fruit.  So STUDY GOD AND KNOW HIM FULLY, BE EAGER, ALIVE AND ON YOUR FEET, FIT TO FACE HIM!  May our eagerness and aliveness last more than a few days!  In Matt 9:13a Jesus says "But go and learn what this means:” I think He’d apply that here as well.

Hos 6:1-6 Message Bible     "Come on, let’s go back to GOD. He hurt us, but he’ll heal us. He hit us hard, but he’ll put us right again. 2  In a couple of days we’ll feel better. By the third day he’ll have made us brand-new,
Alive and on our feet, fit to face him. 3  We’re ready to study GOD, eager for God-knowledge.  As sure as dawn breaks, so sure is his daily arrival. He comes as rain comes, as spring rain refreshing the ground." 4  "What am I to do with you, Ephraim? What do I make of you, Judah? Your declarations of love last no longer than morning mist and predawn dew. 5  That’s why I use prophets to shake you to attention, why my words cut you to the quick: To wake you up to my judgment blazing like light. 6  I’m after love that lasts, not more religion. I want you to know GOD, not go to more prayer meetings.

My Prayer:
Empower our love for You with a readiness and eagerness to fully know You, O God.  Make us alive and fit to serve You.   Shake us to attention, O Father God.  May Your words cut us to the quick when needed.  Prune us to produce more fruit.  Until eternity comes, may we stand in loving awe of Your awesome majesty, loving You with our all, and loving our neighbor as ourselves.  You are love, O God.  Help us to follow.   In Jesus’ precious name,    Amen.
